Chapter Two

Light started to fall onto the bodies of four boys as the sun began to rise beyond the horizon. Since they were all exhausted, they took turns in staying awake and looking after Jungsu while the others got some sleep. Donghae looked down at the boy that rested his head on him lap. As much as Jungsu would like to be thought as a man who could take care of his dongsaengs, Donghae know that deep inside, Jungsu was a boy like everyone else. A boy who was on the verge of breaking.

Softly running his hands through Jungsu’s hair, Donghae watched Jungsu’s face contort in pain as he continued to sleep. Donghae never really knew how long Jungsu had been with his grandfather before himself, Sungmin and Ryeowook had arrived at the mansion with nowhere to go. Unlike the three of them, whose parents died in a car crash, Jungsu’s parents had disappeared and left him alone to fend for himself. After Jungsu was found, he had been sent to his grandfather to be taken care of since he was only fourteen years old.

Donghae looked guiltily at the older boy as he remembered what happened after the other three arrived at the mansion. Through all the hard times, Jungsu never blamed them for what happened, even though Donghae knew that it was their fault. He knew that even though Jungsu was neglected, he was in no way harmed by their grandfather. He knew their grandfather never paid any attention to Jungsu until after the other three arrived at the mansion.

Hugging him lightly so not to hurt him, Donghae wrapped his arms around Jungsu’s shoulders and kissed his forehead. “I’m sorry for what we put you through. We’re all sorry, but now, you’re going to be our first priority. You’re happiness will come first; after all you have done for us. I promise.”

Since Donghae was in deep thought with his head bent over Jungsu, he didn’t notice the truck stop and movement heading towards the back of truck, where the four boys laid. Donghae’s head looked up abruptly when he heard a stern voice call out to him.

“Yah! What are you doing there?”

Donghae looked at the source of the voice, paranoid that they would be dragged back to the wretched mansion. “Help us please. Hyung, he’s hurt. Please help us,” Donghae called out weakly in hopes of not waking up Jungsu.

Two males stood next to each other behind the door of the back of the truck. One was the big man that Donghae had seen earlier and the other one had shoulder length black hair. Donghae squinted in the sunlight as the male with the long hair got into the back of the truck and walked towards the group.

Seeing that only Jungsu was the one gravely hurt, the male’s face softened and looked at Donghae. “I only have one room to spare and it’s not big enough to accommodate all of you.”

Sungmin and Ryeowook, who had woken up when the male had first spoken, looked at the male with determination in their eyes. “Please take him then, he needs medical treatment. He’s injured and I don’t know if the wound is sterilised anymore,” said Sungmin weakly.

The male nodded. “Okay, I’ll take him while the rest of you can stay at my friend’s place. Shindong will drive you there.” The male then turned the larger man, Shindong, who was patiently waiting outside with another male. “Hankyung, can you come here and help me with this guy?”

The other male, Hankyung, quickly moved forward and lifted Jungsu into his arms before moving out.

“Heechul, what about the other three?” Shindong nodded to the other three boys who looked faint.

The male with longer hair, Heechul, jumped down from the back of the truck. “Take them to Eunhyuk. He has enough food and beds for them. I’ll get the supplies from you later.”  Heechul then turned to the boys in the truck. “Once you’ve been rested and fed and not looking like you’ll collapse any moment, just ask the guy called Eunhyuk if you can go to see Heechul. Shindong will explain everything to him.”

With that, the two groups parted ways with Shindong driving off into another direction. As Hankyung walked into the building that was behind them, he felt the male in his arms stir awake and mumble something.

“No…don’t leave me alone again…” Jungsu tried to reach out for the disappearing truck but felt a hand softly stop him.

Heechul looked at the weak, malnourished male in Hankyung’s arms with pitiful eyes. “Don’t move, you’ll see them again later. Now go back to sleep.”

Jungsu reluctantly let sleep take over him again, making all his worries disappear only temporarily. Once he saw that the pair had entered the building, Heechul quickly closed the back door and locked it shut, knowing how unsafe the district they were in now was.

-

Donghae stared warily at the shop that he and his two other relatives stood outside of. The three of them watched as Shindong quickly explained to another male, who they assumed to be Eunhyuk, what was happening. After Shindong had left with a smile thrown in their direction, Eunhyuk motioned them inside where the aroma of food wafted.

Ryeowook’s stomach grumbled and looked to his hyungs whether or not it was okay to go in. After staring at the sign ‘ddeokbokki and mandu’ for a while, saliva started to accumulate in Sungmin’s mouth. The last memory they had of eating food besides plain stale bread was before their parents had been taken away from them.

Sungmin remembered in the past when he played in the park with his brother, Donghae, and their mother had come and surprised them with ddeokbokki and squid on a stick. He smiled at the happy memory when they would pull their shy cousin, Ryeowook, with them to the park to play on the swings. Back then, they weren’t close with Jungsu and his parents as they were very secretive and never really let Jungsu play with anyone. However, even though Jungsu couldn’t play with them then, Sungmin knew that Jungsu’s parents loved him dearly.

A pull on his shirt made Sungmin snap back to the present as he looked over at Ryeowook who looked wistfully towards the shop. Since he was in charge until Jungsu was back on his feet, Sungmin took Ryeowook’s hand in his and lead the pair into the shop.

Donghae still looked suspiciously at the shop, debating whether or not it was safe for them to trust these people. Amidst his thoughts, he didn’t realise that Eunhyuk was walking towards him until a saw some fish on a stick being shoved under his nose.

“Come on, eat. You need to stay healthy.” Eunhyuk smiled with his gums showing, causing Donghae chuckle a bit. Donghae accepted the stick and chewed on it a bit, testing whether if the food was up to his taste buds or not.

Seeing Donghae take another bite, Eunhyuk smiled happily and took his hand and dragged him into the store he owned. Donghae paused in mid bite and looked at the older boy’s hand around his. He was never really comfortable with the idea of skinship but strangely enough, Eunhyuk holding his hand felt somewhat comforting.

-

Jungsu stirred awake and felt soft sheets under his fingers with a fluffed up pillow resting under his head. Even though he felt pain sear in various places over his body, he still felt at ease knowing that he had left his grandfather’s mansion with his three dongsaengs. Jungsu could almost see the smiles that would grace their faces and welcome him when he woke up. Smiling softly, he opened his heavy-lidded eyes only to find nothing but a white ceiling in his vision.

Panic started to shroud his thoughts as he quickly looked around the strange room he was in. It looked like any other ordinary room to him. The room was relatively small to the point where a bed was the only piece of furniture besides a bedside table and a chair. Seeing that his cousins weren’t with him and that there was no evidence of their presence, Jungsu pulled back the covers and tried to stumble out of the room.

The moment his feet hit the floor, his leg pulled a muscle, causing him to fall down onto the carpet floor. Ignoring the pain, Jungsu tried desperately to reach the door by dragging his body towards the exit. He cried out in pain and started to breathe heavily when the door was opened, revealing two males holing some food and medicine.

“Yah! What do you think you’re doing? Hankyung, help him!!” Hankyung quickly passed Heechul the food he was holding and helped Jungsu back to the bed. Once Jungsu’s breathing had calmed down, Heechul handed him some pain medicine as Hankyung helped to massage his leg.

“So how are you feeling now?” Jungsu frowned at the man’s accented words and assumed that he wasn’t from around Korea.

“A bit better. Where are my dongsaengs?” Jungsu looked at the pair with watchful eyes, still not fully trusting them yet.

“Loose the suspicion, they left you with us since you were on the brink of death.” Heechul stirred some of the fried rice to cool it down before holding a spoonful up to him.

Jungsu looked at it warily. “Are they safe? I don’t want them to get hurt.” He didn’t accept the food.

Heechul looked at the male irritably and shoved the food in his mouth to prove a point. This caused Hankyung to throw him a look for eating the food. “What? He thinks the food’s poisonous or something! Besides Hannie, the food is very good today.” Heechul gave him a thumb up and continued to eat the rice.

Hankyung quickly took the bowl from him so there would be some left for Jungsu. “Heehcul-sshi, there’s still some downstairs. Let him have some.” Hankyung held out a full spoon to Jungsu who accepted it this time. “What’s your name anyways?”

Jungsu chewed on his rice and wondered if he should tell them his real name. Despite his dongsaengs wishes, he knew that his grandfather could possibly still be alive and that he could have connections to find the four runaways. As Jungsu continued to chew on the rice thoughtfully, Heechul spoke up impatiently. “Look, you don’t have to give us a real name. We just need to call you something besides ‘You’ or ‘Boy’ or something.”

“Leeteuk,” mumbled Jungsu. He vaguely remembered when his parents were alive and they would call him special for being their son. He smiled sadly at the memories that he could never experience again.

“What? I can’t hear you, you need to speak up.”

Jungsu looked at Heechul and repeated confidently. “Leeteuk.”

Heechul nodded thoughtfully as he sneaked another bite of rice. “Leeteuk it is. I'm Heechul and this silent man is Hankyung.” This caused Hankyung to protest that he wasn’t quiet, which made Heechul merely ignore him and continue. “You can stay here as long as you like until you’re healed but even then, you can stay longer if you wish.”

“Where am I exactly?”

Heechul’s face hardened. “You’re in the red light district of Seoul so I advise you not to leave this room unless completely necessary. Since society isn’t as nice to the likes of us, I run an okama bar with Hankyung.”

Jungsu looked at Heechul in confusion. “Society? Okama bar?”

Hankyung put a hand on his shoulder. “You don’t need to know that right now. All you need is rest.” Jungsu reluctantly nodded and finished off the rice before settling back down in the bed.

“Just call us if you need anything.”

When he heard the door softly shut behind them, Jungsu stared at the ceiling once more. He wondered where exactly were his dongsaengs and when he would see them again. Whether he was free from his grandfather and whether or not he was really dead. He sighed tiredly and decided that the least the two males knew about him, the safer they would be. After leaving the mansion, he knew that there would be times where he would have to use other people’s hospitability and for that kindness, he wouldn’t want anything bad to happen to them.

His heart tugged its strings as he yearned for the love that his parents gave him. Of course his dongsaengs loved him too but sometimes, he wanted to be held the way his parents used to hold him. He wanted to be a special guy to them again and to someone that was special to him.

The last of Jungsu’s thoughts before he fell into a deep sleep was thinking of his parents and strangely enough, wondering just what an okama bar was.

Rain started to lightly hit the lone window of the room; it’s noise lulling Jungsu into a peaceful sleep. This was how Jungsu became Leeteuk.

Ta-da! Heechul, Hankyung, Eunhyuk and Shindong are here! I bet none of you realised that the guy in Chapter 1 was Shindong! XD Yeah, I don’t put in random characters unless they’re bad…which then they just don’t get a name…

This chapter was a bit boring I think and I wasn’t really happy with how I wrote it but! There’s stuff happening in the next chapter!! Kangin makes an appearance soon…in two or three chapters =D

I tried to make Heechul humorous yet caring here so who knows what turned out! I won’t be able to update until like…after Saturday or Monday because I have exams on those days. Man, juggling fanfic and school work just makes you want to just drop out of school -_- Yeah, I got some exam marks back and I barely passed! I failed one of my exams though ;__;

Yeah, I felt a mini rant/explanation was necessary if I don’t update in a while. I was going to post this tomorrow but nah~

BTW! Who actually knows what an okama bar IS? If so....are you totally lolling atm?
