This sounds Scandanavian but I don't know it. Explain?

It's supposed to be a fairy cat which can climb and jump like no other. You can find it on Wikipedia.

Some think it was inspired by the Norwegian Forest Cat, which is apparently descended from Viking ship cats. And I think my cat Raina must have some of that ancestry....
