It's the year 2025, and the world is much the same as it was about a decade ago-- except, of course, for the fucking zombies. After the infection spread from a government laboratory in Washington, D.C. three years ago, the United States has been chaotic anarchy. The situation quickly outgrew the government, and soon the population fell victim to the flesh-eating infected. Mexico and Canada barred their borders to Americans, fearing the sickness and trapping American civilians in the states. Civilization has been reduced to ruins. Pockets of survivors wander, looking for food and shelter-- often having to barter with each other, especially groups who take over supermarkets and other resources with their weapons-- but more often fallen prey to the zombies, who are fast, vicious, and highly adaptive. These creatures aren't the slow, leg-dragging creatures in the movies-- they're not even allergic to light. Though primarily nocturnal, they'll hunt you down in broad daylight.
There is no known cure.
In Denver, Colorado, rumors of a sanctuary brought a ragtag group of strangers together. The rumors turned out to be exactly that-- rumors, whatever sanctuary had been there was long destroyed and overrun-- but they've decided to stay and look after each other, at least until it's safe to move again. They live in an abandoned hotel, armed to the teeth and living off canned food. A radio transmission from a few weeks ago suggested that the United Nations may be sending rescue and evacuation teams. They wait and hope-- and in the meantime, shoot up the fucking zombies.

Taking on the mama bear persona, Mak looks after the other survivors, whether it means making sure they eat or unloading her shotgun in a flesh-eating zombie's face. Mak is in charge of meals, collecting supplies, and enforcing group rules, such as curfew.

As it turned out, zombies weren't really into being conned, no matter how much he wanted to insist that he wasn't very edible at all. It was by cheating and stealing from other groups of surivors that Scottie made it to Denver, where he met up with Mak's group. An attempt to steal ended with Mak's gun in his face-- and Scottie made his decision to stay, sans the stealing. At least this way the others could shoot the zombies for him, and they seemed good at collecting supplies. Might as well sit around, play cards, and wait for rescuers to come. Occasionally, Scottie will lend his slyness to the team by strategizing, and he has no trouble shooting zombies himself, though he prefers not to dirty his hands.

( ohhhzomburiis ) Oh Min-Ju is an unfortunate exchange student from South Korea, who likely would have been safe in her native country if she hadn't decided-- on basis of her excellence in English language studies-- to spend a semester in the United States. On chance alone, she survived after the infected descended on the college where she was studying. Min-Ju traveled with a group of other student survivors until they were caught by surprise outside of Boulder, Colorado. Mak, out collecting supplies, found and rescued her. Though she was generally ineffective against zombies in an attack, Min-Ju's earnest willingness to help with day-to-day tasks convinced Mak to take the bubbly and whimsical girl to Denver with her. Min-Ju considers herself the team cheerleader and works hard to keep moral high.

As fate would have it, not long after, the infection broke out, and she's been stuck in the United States ever since. If she ever gets back to England, she's sure her journal-- tentatively titled The True Story of a Zombie Apocalypse Survivor-- will fly off the shelves. And on the bright side, she is handy with a gun, when she can calm herself long enough to shoot.

It also didn't take long for that dream to get ruined; Tristan was weeks away from touring for the first time when infection started to spread. Being recognizable is no longer a good thing and he got out of LA as fast as he could. It was by chance that he met up with Mak's group and the three things he could offer were money, the determination of a kid who thinks dying's a myth, and a bright optimism that most people have lost by now. He may not be particularly good with a gun, but he can buy you all the ammunition in the world.

( diyyat ) Bobby Rogers isn't your average criminal. He took the lives of a number of city officials around his home town. He won't say why he did it, but it earned him Death Row at the United States Penitentiary in Terre Haute. It was while he was holed up there that the zombies began to appear, first clawing at those high walls, managing to infect their security guards, then slowly and surely the inmates. With no one to monitor them, no one to keep them contained, some of the inmates managed to escape but Bobby knew if he ran, he was about as safe as he was in Terre Haute. Unlike the others, he took up the guns of fallen officers and fought his way out-- and continues this fight on the outside. With a growing collection of weapons (particularly guns), he has managed to make a name for himself for having a notorious and peculiar affinity for hunting the undead. Upon finding Mak's group of survivors, he has made it practically his job to stick with them, hoping to keep them safe from the infection.

( neurozombs ) Bing Hua Li is fresh out of nursing school, on her way back to China -- then they grounded the planes. With just her carry-on bags and passport to her name, Hua Li began to walk the surrounding towns, looking for a way to get home and a safe bed to sleep in. Unfortunately for Hua Li, most of the residents were either gone, looting or dead, leaving her paranoid and alone. After four days of no sleep and nearly getting eaten, Hua Li began to head west. On the sixth day, Mak found Hua Li, delirious and even more neurotic than usual. Now Hua Li is the resident nurse for the survivors, bandaging up everything from paper cuts to stray bullet wounds. Dubbed "Bing-Bing", Hua Li is neurotic and jumpy, easy to make fun of, and determined to keep the group from infection.

( goldurnzombies ) There's nothing too outstanding about old Bradley Thomas Dagley--Dag to his friends and family. A Colorodo man born and raised, he took up farming alongside his father and grandfather, working under an old family friend. He dropped out of high school when his father had a stroke and hasn't looked back since, choosing work over education. He married young and had four kids that he pushes to work hard for those fancy papers he didn't get. It's all about making ends meet and helping his children get a better life. The first thing Dag does when the outbreak hits is gather his family, grab the Bible, and then the ammo. He holed up in his ranchouse until the place got overrun, losing his wife and kids one by one during the struggle. Like some kind of post-modern cowboy, Dag travels in his diesel pickup truck with a horse in trailer tow, bartering from place to place and working to decrease that surplus zombie population. Brain-eating monsters or no, this God-fearing man isn't about to turn away someone in need.

He hadn't reached his twentieth birthday when he moved out of his parent's house, sharing an apartment with a group of friends and acquaintances, each with their own jobs and routines. This wasn't a very significant period of his life. Chris's personality developed fully when he found his way into a community of people who shared his interests and traits. He found love, pursued his dreams, got his heart broken and struggled with discrimination more than once. Christopher was living with his partner and finishing a day at work when disaster struck in his diner - he barely managed to get out alive, fighting zombies off with a pair of kitchen knives at his display. He immediately headed for home to go back to his partner, but odds were simply against him. Chris does not know what happened to him to this day, holding on to a silent hope that he is out there, surviving. Chris traveled and traveled, always with various groups of strangers that he would come to befriend and get separated from - needless to say it was nothing but pure coincidence that brought him into Mak's group. Those that survive will always remember him as the Big Gay Dude that let anyone use his shoulder to cry on and tried to keep their spirits up as much as their feet on the ground. Just as capable of getting serious and packing a weapon as he is of being an outspoken and optimistic stereotype, Chris is the group's designated cook (and fashion stylist, when one is in the mood).

( kneebruises ) Although her parents, Zahid and Layla Mustafa, were emigrants, Sabeen and her brothers were born in America. Rasheed, the eldest, quit school to take over the family business once their father passed away from a heart attack and made sure that both Sabeen and Jamal attended school. Sabeen herself was an average student, more preoccupied with her social life and skating. Jamal was the little genius and great hopes were deposited on him, but once the infection began, all was lost for he was the first to go. Rasheed blamed himself for it because he wasn't able to protect his family, being the man of the house. During another outbreak, Bean - as her friends called Sabeen - ended up as the sole survivor. She's pretty good with finding great hiding places to pass the night and her flexibility give her the confidence to serve as a bait a lot of times, as she can squeeze through tight spaces. She was taking mechanics in school, so she's pretty good with fixing things. She's also always seen with her skateboard and a handful of bruises.
