Sheesh, it has been a while since I posted. Spring is finally here. Work continues to be stressful, with big changes at the parent corporation and continuing talk of mergers. But so far our production is hanging on.

Aiming for 30+ plants a week (including legumes and lots of colourful veggies), lots of water and cutting out processed food can help a lot with weight loss. It's the hidden sugars in processed food that don't help. Red meat is good in moderation (good quality stuff - obviously) and adding seeds and nuts to your diet will help too. Upping your fibre can really help your body start to process food quicker which helps with everything else :)

Wow - that's a lot of money earing driving a truck! As you say, no benefits and no prospects is not so good though :(

We don't eat that much processed food, and have cut way back on eating out as well. Tonight's dinner is Chinese chicken salad with grilled chicken and lots of greens. I unfortunately can't stand beans...

Logging is big business out here, but it is hard work too. Kid is out of the house at 4 AM most days and does not get back until 6 PM. I just don't see that as being sustainable.

Good to see you.

The cats and the chipmunk made me smile.

Earning a good amount during the season, and then returning to uni as the logging season ends sounds like a good plan - I hope he goes through with it.

I hope so too! A degree does count for something still. And if he does become an engineer, it would make this money seem quaint, all while keeping his boots clean.

My older cats would have caught that chipmunk quick and served it up to me with a garnish. The current bunch is not quite so clever.

The three stooges are so funny. Rocky is still my favorite of your bunch.

That kind of money for a kid Kid's age is amazing, but not stable. I was tempted to quit school after two years, but my dad wouldn't permit it. He said a bachelors degree counts for something, no matter what it's in. True - my BA in Music Performance got me into software development.

ETA: I'm playing FFVII Rebirth. Cid and Vincent's first meeting is uneventful. No chemistry whatsoever. So far Vincent is comic relief. When he comes out of his coffin he tries to read a Shinra ID with a card reader, and Cait Sith has to show him how to turn it on.

Rocky is my good potato.

It is hard to convince a kid about long term planning when the CDL money is so good right now. He got fire training certification also so that during wild fire season he can drive equipment and make even more money. But logging work is only 7-8 months out of the year. I told him that if he does not go back to school he is going to have to start contributing $$ to live with us.

Vincent's whole thing is his star crossed love story with Lucretia, so I imagine Square Enix was horrified at the Cid/Vincent fandom, LOL. They probably made sure to squish even a whisper of chemistry between those two for the reboot.

Contributing $$ if he isn't going to school seems fair and adult-like. Going back to school is probably best for his long-term future even if the money is good right now.
