New York?

So work is doing another party in NY, this time in early March. I am not really sure if I want to go...there are no direct flights from Spokane, so it will be a super long day of air travel there and back, even with no delays. Last time I staggered into my hotel past midnight, spent the next day at work events, woke up early the third day and ( Read more... )

Sounds like a bit of a hassle to get there just for the 2 days.

Yeah. It will be all day travel Thursday, work stuff Friday, day in NY Saturday, and all day travel Sunday with work again Monday. If I want a recovery day I will have to skip the day in NY. Husband thinks I should do this for networking purposes, but I see most of these people every week on Zoom.

The hop on/hop off tourist buses are worth getting as you get a good tour around the city, but you can stop off here and there if you want to look around. I thought they were great.

I have done something similar in Hong Kong. That may be a nice stress free way to get around!

I am getting less adventurous in my old age...I would have been all over a free trip 20 years ago.

Hey it might be fun if you can have a whole day to play and shop and look around. If you go I hope you have an amazing time!

Central NJ here so we get the NYC weather. Early March is an absolute crapshoot. Either you can get some nearly springlike weather or blizzards. But plenty of public transportation so even if the weather sucks, unless it REALLY sucks, you can get around.

Also, if you stick around Manhattan, it's a grid so even the folks with the bad sense of direction do just fine. I've been dying to visit Koreatown, myself.

Finally, if you go, try to fly into Newark NJ. Because as long as you're not taking a crapton of luggage, it's super simple to take the air train to NJ Transit and zippity zip zip right into NYC

My BFF and I love the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Something for everyone there.

I think a great museum would be fun! It would be indoors too, just in case. I will just be traveling with a carryon and a mini backpack/purse.

That does sound like a hassle for only two days, but it's all up to you.

I am concerned mostly about flight delays, since last winter was awful for that. Early March is still winter here.
