Dude, you're so not! The "I'm not an owl scene, with them whispering together, just guh. Could they be any closer? And the "getting dates" scene!!! It's slightly different from the books, but I like this take on it almost as much, with Ron more asking asking in a would-be casual sort of way. And, while Hermione didn't say "Oh, well spotted!" all that acidly, the "And I said YES." was too perfect for words.

Yes, she's REALLY good in those kinds of scenes (which is so good for us!).

And when Ron says "can't we..." or whatever with the arm motions, it's so suggestive!

Or... maybe that's just me?

*goes back to watch and rewatch owl scene*

I think what he's saying there is "come with one of us", but yes the arm motions ... *DED*

No, you're totally not the only one. I said I wasn't going to spoil myself too much, but today I'm so glad I watched some of those clips. I've told myself so many times that the movies can never come close to the books and I mostly like them for the action and the spectacle rather than the relationships, and that the characters in my head look nothing like the ones on the screen, but despite all that today I was suddenly: OMG look it's a movie of one of my favorite books! And it's my favorite couple! And they're so angsty and adorable together! I think I'm turning into a puddle of goo! Even if he has silly hair, but I guess I did too when I was his age

I loved the Harry and Hermione scene on the bridge, too. When she talks about Viktor it is so adorable and platonic, the way he smiles and waggles his eyebrows at her! Over at mrs_bombadil's we were talking tonight about how it somehow got to the point where we see movie!Harry and movie!Hermione together and our first reaction is negative, because we know someone out there will interpret ( ... )

Screw that! It's time to take back Harry and Hermione's relationship. It's a wonderful one

WORD to the tenth power! That is supposed to be one of the emotional payoffs of the books AND the movies, and we'd be crazy to let anything (especially that nonsense) mess it up for us.

And Ron's silly hair looks great when my beloved Snape slaps it.

Double Word! I hate H/Hr so much because I love that the H/Hr friendship is perfect just as it is. I'm looking forward to all the little H/Hr moments in the movie, and that bridge scene was so cute!

Oh yes. Yes, yes, yes. I *LOVE* how they've apparently condensed the "finding dates" stuff. It doesn't take up as much time, but it goes right to the point of what's "going on." Kloves gets it, Newell gets it, and good Lord do Rupert and Emma get it. And I'm glad they're sort of saving the best for last with the final Yule Ball confrontation. Plus, I'm sure there's even more good R/Hr stuff that we haven't seen.

And I totally agree with peachespig. The Harry-Hermione is stuff is incredible and reminds me of how much I love their relationship - as it is in the books. It's sad that we (or at least I) haven't been able to enjoy it properly since entering the fandom and the debate. It feels like that's starting to change now.

They were totally adorable. I watched the "You're a girl" scene about five times. My only gripe with the clips that I've seen is that I'm not sure that there's anything in the books about Hermione taking an SAT prep course. Where's she picking up dialogue like "not particularly loquacious"?

This means that Moey and I will still be required to sit in the back of the theater with a protective noise guard around us.

Where's she picking up dialogue like "not particularly loquacious"?

Not only that, but that Harry seemed to understand! :P But Hermione could have read it in a book somewhere, that I'll buy.

But still, everything looks good, and even though Hermione and Harry don't really confide in each other in the books, it's a cute thing to see in the movies to show their almost sibling-like friendship.

I know! I hate to use the dread phrase "better than the books" but it is very pleasant to see Harry and Hermione interacting like that. I mean, the cute little "isn't this great?" wave she gives him at the Yule Ball and the discussion about Viktor on the bridge are just exactly what I wish had happened in canon, but it didn't.

Okay... but now I'm kind of annoyed... I just watched the dragons scene, and I like how they made Ron seem like a total scumbag by making it so he sees the dragons before Harry does and DOESN'T TELL HARRY.

BECAUSE RON WOULD DO THAT. NOT.

The scene with Cho is adorable though.

I haven't watched the clips but the way you've described it reminds me of that scene in POA where Ron sides with Snape when he insults Hermione. Scenes like this make me mad, because they so misrepresent Ron's character.

Yeah, I've got a beef about that scene too. It makes Ron look like a complete asshole there when he really should just be a dumbass during the fight. They're both dumbasses during that fight, but not actual assholes, ya know?

Yesterday connielane had a good discussion of how this scene has to be taken in context with the not-an-owl scene, and I agree with her. I can't abide the "Poor Ron nearly fainted" line though. Booo!
