"They're shards," Peridot protested. "Forming isn't going to help them get what they want. The rest of their gems might even already be in the Cluster, just... in some other part of it!"

The drill was having a heck of a time remaining upright, here.

"All they're going to do is destroy this entire planet, and they still won't find themselves doing it!"

Peridot had important attempting to stabilize the hinges to the final drill leg to be doing while Rufus steered, here. She'd love to carry on conversations with the giant FrankenGem, but...

"I'm trying!" She sent back to the cluster, a burst of /No! Danger-hurt-collapse-negative-please!/ that seemed to maybe make them pause for just a second.

It was a pause that seemed to give way into a billion glimmers of realization, of dawning horror.

No! No, no no! No!

The drill shuddered again, and another wave of screaming white form swept up around them, the shards protesting violently as it did so.
