I've been reading up on North Korea for awhile now, and this occurrence seems in keeping with something awfully strange goings on lately. In November or December, references and portraits of Kim were mysteriously vanishing from state functions. There were a few articles on it, and people had wondered if there wasn't some kind of power struggle going on behind the scenes (though, let's face it - everything there is behind the scenes).

If there is in fact a power struggle, it'd be interesting to know whether or not the photo was leaked by opposition - make it look like Kim's grip is slipping. Guess we'll know someday.
