Rather than contenting myself with just the regular loaf of bread (and scone: see subject) at the market this fine sunny morning1, I acquired also: cup of coffee2, bag of mixed soap ends, bottle of cider pronounced to be "real cider" by the Quebecker browser/taster standing next to me, jar of pepper jelly3, rutabaga and kale4. We bake our kale on top of some sauteed mushrooms and polenta, with added cheese. It's delicious (I can post the recipe if you'd like it). :-)

Yes, please; that sounds like a wonderful way to use up some of our cornmeal. It also reminds me that I forgot to buy mushrooms.

(The soy sauce and worcestershire are optional, but I like them enough to add them to most things. :-))

Heh. Yeah, I go through soy sauce like nobody's business. Worcestershire, not so much, since I stopped eating fish.

Curly Kale was rejected by my spouse as a food item, alas. We have to stick to flatter greens in this household.

Mmm, kale. Oddly, the one time I tried it raw, I hated it. But kale and potato soup = very yummy.
