A month ago, when I was explaining to my daughter how Spoon River Anthology totally rocked, I started with that poem.

She wound up wanting me to buy her the book. (Which I did, and then she binged, and then she said it was too depressing, which is true enough. Reading SRA in big bites doesn't work.)

I really love the Spoon River Anthology also! But you're right, it's best done a poem every few days so that you don't find it all too much. But in little doses, it's wonderful.

I love this poem so much.

It's one of those that always makes me cry, 100 percent of the time.

I know it's one of roz_mcclure's favorites, too (no surprise).

I'm a surprise fan of that anthology, too. I do believe in reading it in chunks, just because there are so many repeating patterns...
