commodorified sent me this link:

Guess what it is. Go on. ;)

I'm sure I'm not the only person who read that and started to think up wholly inappropriate ad campaigns.

To think, if it were in Ga(l)veston, TX...it wouldn't be the first time that had happened!

What were they thinking?

DId you notice you can't actually make reservations online?

(not that I would, since I have free lodging in the City, but I was curious)

Well, better that than "Savonarola's Wood-Fired Pizza," I guess...

I think I remember walking past that when I was in San Francisco a couple years ago, and making wholly inappropriate comments about the kind of wakeup calls to expect.

BTW, in Cambridge MA there's a Hotel Marlowe and Spencer's Mystery Books (though the latter is named for the private eye rather than the poet the PI was named for)

I know that it's terrible and utterly un-PC for me to think this, but my first thought after clicking on the link was "Only in San Francisco."

(And interestingly enough, my Mother the geneaology researcher has traced my father's line back to show that I'm a direct lineal descendant of Piers Gaveston, via an illegitimate daughter he conceived with a chambermaid. Apparently Piers slept with everyone.)
