There is a very annoying bird singing outside. At three AM. That doesn't seem quite right.

I did manage to finish reading the Milton criticism I was working on, and now am trying to finish with Tamburlaine before I go to bed. You see how well that's going. (On the one hand, I really want to go to bed, and on the other, I'm not really sleepy at all ( Read more... )

If you'll recall, the computer had been imprinted with the mental patterns (whatever that means) of its creator, who believed strongly in the sanctity of life, so it was more a personal/cultural bias than a real law.

Or perhaps Daystrom himself believed himself that this would be the law of a perfectly law-abiding Federation. It might be seen as an instance where the the passion of emotion conflicts with passionless logic.

Then again, I bow before the dorkiness of Bromius and Lea.
