Oh. I thought about one writer which is very light, but does her job pretty well. Jennifer Weiner, the author of Good in Bed and In Her Shoes. Good in Bed was significantly better than In Her Shoes, but they were both all right. Try her.

It sounds so familiar that I'm almost itching to say that I've read "good in Bed", but for the life of me I can't remember what it's about if I have read it :).

I've read all of her books. She is light (although, all of her heroines are heavy :-), but repeats herself with the same father-left-my-mom-me-and-my-brother story (excluding In Her Shoes), so that I've experienced deja vu at least three times. Her last one "A Man not Taken", I did like, despite the endless repetitions and predictability.

For some reason, I'm completely unable to read chick lit. I've read one CL novel, and was ready to kill myself by the end. Boring, bad writing, and I was completely unable to identify with the characters.
