In US the casinos seem to take money more from poorer people so this one being sited in a less affluent area of the country doesn't in the least surprise me. Also easier to sell as "redevelopment" I guess.

Has anyone claimed _any_ social or financial good for these casinos?
I've been to ones abroad that have had a friendly "playing games with friends for minor amounts of cash" feel to them but many have just felt sad.

Apparently Macao is now a bigger gambling centre than Las Vegas.
