Personally, I see no need for you to filter this sort of stuff - but if it makes you feel more comfortable and/or other people do comment that they'd prefer it, then an opt-in filter might be an option.

As far as I'm concerned, it's your journal so you can do what you like (within reason). I'm big enough to choose whether I scroll past stuff or not :-)

If you filter I'd be interested to read even though I'm not doing any formal academia at the moment. I don't mind it not on a filter, as it is your journal and if people don't want to read they can skip it.
