This was subtlety heart wrenching. Poor Cara. I feel even more sorry for Kahlan... she doesn't even know why she's upset with Cara's withdrawal.

You know, I understand these are 'stand alone' ficlets but, perhaps the next few could follow up with this one and make it all better? Lesbian's have such few happy endings in the media. Either one of them leaves for a man or gets killed off (and some in the most cruelest of ways - Xena and Silvia come to mind). Jes, putt'n it out there, donchaknow. Looking for that elusive Fairy Tale Ending and all.

So angsty with such an economy of words. Good job, AS! Of course I agree with snagam80 that I'd love to see a continuation of this, letting Kahlan get a clue. Maybe Kahlan realizing that if her love for someone could subvert her magic, that someone could be Cara just as easily as Richard. Of course, in this fic, we don't know if R&K have tested that theory beyond what happened at the Pillars, so maybe they actually *can't* be together.
