Angel was feeling nervous about doing this. Yes, it was something that had to be done, since there was an upcoming apocalypse that, alone, they just could not handle. No, they would have to pull in every resource that they could find, and maybe a few that he would rather not put up with (but more on that later). There were too many thoughts running through his mind right now to focus on one thing that may or may not come to pass.
He was a little startled when he heard someone crawling through the air ducts, though. Whoever was doing it knew what they were knew what they were doing, though, because, unless they had his super hearing, they weren't going to hear the person doing it. Angel moved around the room a little and looked directly up at the vent where he knew that the person was watching from. "That's really not necessary," he said up to the air vent.
Eliot wasn't really sure what the hell he was doing *here* again. Hadn't he learned his lesson three years ago during that whole Book of Twelve Stones fiasco? There was a reason he avoided Lawyers and Evil Law Firms and the Supernatural. It never ended well. Three years ago he'd sworn he'd Never take another Wolfram and Hart job again no matter how good the pay was
( ... )
Parker’s eyes widened a little bit. She was pretty good when it came to expecting the unexpected, but being spotted so easily had spooked her.
“That’s scary.” She muttered to herself. Fidgeting around with her tools, she began to loosen the screws that held the vent closed and got ready to make her entrance. It seemed like the proper thing to do as she had been very obviously found out.
Suddenly, though, she froze in place.
“Eliot??” She asked in a harsh whisper. What was he doing at the law firm? He hadn’t mentioned anything to the team regarding an apocalypse, so, naturally, this was quite a surprise. Then again Parker hadn’t mentioned anything either... She didn’t know what to make of the situation. She let out a frustrated sort of huff and peered at him through the vent.
It took a beat for Eliot to connected the inquiry from the vent to Parker. Apparently, while there were other reasons besides a crazy thief for this guy to be staring up into the ventilation shaft, Parker was exactly the reason.
"Parker? What the hell?" Eliot said coming into the room and stopping suddenly when he looked at the guy standing beneath the vent. How the hell had he heard Parker in the vent. Eliot had been working with her for almost two years and he couldn't most of the time.
Hell... that might actually be the reason.
"Parker... I think you might want to get out of here." He muttered, belatedly registering the lack of com as he looked around for something he could turn into an impromptu stake if need be. He wasn't as certain as he'd like but considering where they were this guy might not be human.
Angel stopped advancing forward, not because he was eyeing everything within a fifty foot radius in looking for something to stake with him (you didn't live as long as he did and not know that look), but because Gunn seemed to be offering some sort of an explanation. OK, so what exactly is going on then, if this guy isn't Lindsey back, AGAIN!
"Alright, Gunn," he said to his friend. "Please, tell me a good reason as to why this isn't Lindsey McDonald standing before me." He even smelled like Lindsey to him. Not that weird isn't what happened to them all the time, it's just that twins had actually never happened before. Really, never.
Well, at least that had diffused a little bit. And now there was a girl coming out of the ceiling. Really, could they ever have a normal day in this place?
What, why was he even thinking that? Of course they couldn't.
Gunn pulled the file out of the stack on the desk and opened it. "His name...well, the name he goes by is Eliot Spencer. He's really and truly not Lindsey, that much I promise. He just...happens to look exactly like him." He slapped the folder shut and handed it to Angel.
"Now start acting like a normal person. We should probably go ahead and get started with this stuff." Obviously this world was upside down. Gunn had become the cool and level headed one.
Fred walked down the hall towards the meeting room then turned back, took two steps back towards her lab before she turned herself right back around and kept walking. It was a meeting that was all a business meeting... she didn't have time to deal with who she would or would not like to run into... end of the world stuff here... she pushed her red cats-eye glasses up her nose and adjusted her lab coat, she was a professional... with that in mind she took the last steps to the meeting room.
"Thanks for the newsflash." Eliot said to Gunn without taking his eyes off Angel. "Name's Eliot Spencer, retrival specalist. I've done work for Wolfram and Hart before, swore never ta do it again and with this kinda reception I can't imagine why. Someone said somethin' about the apocolypse so I came anyway but there's a vampire who just tried ta kill me an' now one of my team's in the room. Parker, darlin' stay away from this guy. I don't know what your game is but it'd be awfully nice if someone could explain what's going on."
As he spoke he shifted and started moving a little closer to Parker. Of the team he had the most confidence in Parker's ability to take care of herself but there was at least one vampire in the room and his stance and posture said he was an older one. Even Eliot had trouble with vampires, there was a reason for slayers afterall. He protected the team, that was his job. Even if this was way off the clock he was not about to let Parker get killed by some vampire.
Angel sighed again. He had the feeling that he was going to be doing this a lot today. "No, Fred, I haven't been doing anything bad. No happy pills, no moment of happiness, which, by the way, doesn't necessarily come from sex, let me remind you."
He accepted the mug from Harmony with a muttered 'thanks,' but set it aside for right now. He really didn't feel like eating in front of people that he didn't know. "I'm sorry about jumping to conclusions," he said to Eliot. "You happen to look exactly like someone who has tried to kill me on multiple occasions. Not your fault, I'm sure, but...well..." Finally, he just kind of shrugged.
"Do we know if anyone else is coming today?" he asked, turning toward Harmony.
"Well, I'm not in charge of lawyering, I'm just a lawyer," Gunn pointed out to the new people in the room. Technically, if anyone was in charge of the lawyers, it was him, but that was like saying that you were in charge of a mob. It just didn't quite work that way. He was just the head of a department was all, really.
He looked toward Harmony. "Actually, if you could get me a glass of water, I'd really appreciate that." He had a feeling that he was going to need it, with all of the talking that they were going to be doing soon enough.
Parker didn’t like introductions all too much. She preferred anonymity. Ever her team back home, and Eliot, didn’t know her first name. She never tried to pin an explanation on it.
“I’m Parker.” She said somewhat out of the blue in a nearly monotonous tone of voice adding a little nod of the head afterwards.
Parker looked to the blonde girl who’d offered food and beverages.
"Oh good, I guess that explains that," Fred said very relieved to Angel's reply, the last thing the apocalypse needed was Angelus running around
( ... )
Eliot nodded, relaxing as the situation became a little more clear. Vampire with a soul that wasn't about to try to kill Parker. "It's alright." He muttered in response to Angel's somewhat aborted attempt on his life. "I don't take it personal, the tryin' ta kill me thing I mean." He through a look toward Parker and nodded, danger was passed and it was no longer a "bad guys trying to kill us do as I say if you want to live" situation anymore
( ... )
Parker crossed her arms with a pensive sort of expression on her face. She was weighing the pros and cons of the situation before she committed. As a plus, she being paid an enormous amount of cash just for being around.
She sure as hell wanted to get away from Tara, but she knew she’d miss Hardison and Nate and she was missing Sophie a lot, too. This was all very new and kinda strange, as well.
Letting out a long breath, Parker let her arms fall to her side.
“I guess stopping the apocalypse is kind of important work.” She wrinkled her eyebrows and was quiet for a moment longer. “I’m in, too.”
Harmony nodded then looked at the other blonde, after deciding quickly dead or alive she was still the prettiest in the room, she paused. "Snapple? What flavor?" Then she looked at Angel. "Don't break my mug. Your's had a weird crack in it so I pitched it." The blonde vampire explained. "So that's Water - Coffee - mystery snapple, anything else?" She said with a little face.
"Coffee," Cordelia said as she entered the room. Even though she knew she'd grown as a person since Sunnydale, she still got a kick out of ordering Harmony around. She figured that was just her way of thanking the vampire for nearly killing her. "With lots and lots of caffeine."
Being newly woken from her coma, Cordy had been trying as hard as she could to avoid sleeping. She'd already had almost enough coffee to make her hands shake, but a little more wouldn't hurt.
She glanced around the room, taking in the new faces before stopping at one that was horribly familiar. "Oh, wonderful. Lindsey's back. Now my day is complete. Any more old enemies you're looking to welcome back into the fold, Angel? Just so I've got a little warning."
"Hi Cordy," Fred felt better simply for having the other woman in the room, Cordy had always been like a big sister to her... even if she technically was the older of the two. "This is Eliot," she informed her pointing to the Lindsey look alike, "And Parker." she pointed out the second blonde.
"Hey Fred." Cordy smiled back at her only real female friend. When she first woke up, she was a little worried that Fred might be coming after her with all sorts of gadgets to figure out why, but that fear had mostly subsided, so she was happy to see the scientist. And not only because it was always nice to have the people she knew and trusted outnumber those she didn't.
She greeted both of the newcomers with a wide smile, but couldn't help thinking, Geez, I hope he's not the evil twin. We've got enough problems.
