Ahh...I get it now.

Sometime last year or so, I commented on the whole 616!Tony vs. movie/RDJ!Tony and stating how I went from not seeing a major difference to seeing a few major ones to now understanding what makes comic!Tony...well Tony ( Read more... )

Movieverse will continue to be wildly popular, since the Avengers film is almost out and there are sequels to both Cap and IM in the works. I don't mind, as I find the movieverse fairly fascinating in its own right, because of the differences between it and any of the source material. (Including Ults, since that may have been the starting point - and I see far more of Ult!Tony in movie!Tony than I do 616!Tony - but they've made huge changes even to those basic character concepts ( ... )

Sorry for the late reply, but yes...well said. Movie!verse is simple in comparison to 616, and I totally get the daunting aspect of comic continuity. Heck, the whole Xmen branch of the MU makes me go O____O and I say !@#$ it and just draw from the 90's cartoon XD Lord knows how much that will help me in the upcoming event of AvX...but oh well. It's not like I dislike movie!verse and as you said it's a fun and unique verse like how 7207 (Ironman Noir) is incredible ( ... )

Haha, I kind of went almost entirely the opposite way from you. I think I'm a bit of weirdo in that I kind of barely watched IM and meh, didn't attach to it at all, but then came across Extemis and was instantly hooked. So, I went from finding Movie!Tony rather unappealing and very different from comics!Tony to him slowly and insidiously but surely growing on me. Plus me, starting to see how Movie!Tony could logically arise from the same proto-person as comics!Tony. (nature vs nurture and character growth in action! After all, comics!Tony has had about 15-years of major heroing under his belt as opposed to movie!Tony's... what? 2 incidents overall ( ... )

I will agree that there is some really good movie!verse fics to drool over...though part of me has to laugh because sometimes I see the 616!Tony in some fics and I have to wonder if it's because some authors read the Civil War fics and don't entirely know about the whole multi-universe concept. When I first got into Marvel I had no clue 1610 existed and kept wondering why some fics kept telling me Spider-Woman is a female Peter Parker...lawl. Oh 1610...the craziness that you are.
As for giving IIM a miss...yeah I admit I haven't so much as read issues as I have skimmed them just to see if Tony explodes or something. But honestly...nothing great has happened to 616 for Steve/Tony material in awhile. >_> Sooooo...yeah....

And no worries about the last post on the other entry...I love reading your thoughts actually. Personally my brain is a little burnt out and I'm still going =_= what is it I want to say? Oh well...I can always add another post lol

Please excuse my lack of logic and me jumping around in conversation because my brain doesn't want to process at the moment.

LOL...your reason and love of writing AUs are the same as mine. Why bother with canon when making Steve and Tony werewolves is so much fun...or dragon riders...or pirates. But I hear you on wanting to know everything before writing 616!fics - mainly because you want to be true to the source material and not be labeled as a bad OOC writter. Still...lack of solid IIM comics doesn't help...though I know some people love Fraction's work and Larocca's art. Larocca can draw the Iron Man suit like nobody can...but his people DX my eyes!

In regards to Noir, the appeal is the thought of Tony being present back in WWII...not only can he meet Steve, but he's an established hero. So yeah...it's a neat twist to see Tony being the more experienced fellow than Steve.

(I'D Reading my comment here again, clearly my brain wasn't working too well either when I wrote it. All those typos and horrid run-on sentences. Gah ( ... )
