"Knocking is good." Jack folded his arms around himself as they stopped outside Sam's door. "Thanks, Izzy."

Isabel rubbed her arm in a useless attempt at touching Jack. "It's going to be okay. I'm heading to the library. We'll figure something out."

She knocked on the door and hoped Sam was home.

It wasn't completely useless, he could feel her moving through him, and it was comforting. "I know you will. And hey, it beats horns and a tail."

It didn't, not really, because even when he'd been a beast he could touch people. Jack needed to be able to touch people.

Sam and Jack had been quiet for awhile now, Jack sitting completely inside Sam's body and contemplating what he was going to do if this was permanent.

Sometime around about when several groups of students were banishing the shadows (not that he knew this, of course), Jack started to feel strange. Sort of tingly, like when an asleep foot starts to wake up, but through his whole body. "Did you feel that?"

"Feel wha--" Sam edged away from Jack and went into protection mode. She grabbed a spray bottle of water (which she used on her plants), and prepared to spray, hoping she'd be able to at least catch an outline. "What's happening? Are they back?"

"No. No they're not..." He lunged to his feet, instinct telling him to get as far away from Sam as possible, in case whatever was happening could hurt her.

Unfortunately, he resolidified mid-lunge, didn't realise it, crashed right into the wall, bounced off, and landed flat on his back. "Ow."

Cold and tired, Isabel wanted a hot shower and her bed. But before she could rest, she had to be sure. Which was why she was knocking on Sam's door after coming back from the preserve.

Jack was rumpled, his hair was mussed, he was vaguely irritated at the interruption, but he wasn't going to stop smiling any time soon.

He pulled open the door, saw Izzy, and instantly pulled her into a bear hug.

Evie had followed the note on Jack's door to his Sam's room, and knocked hesitantly, hoping he was resting. "Jack? Sam? I can come back later...."

Another interruption, and Jack groaned and pulled himself away from Sam with an effort.

When he saw it was Evie, she got exactly the same treatment as Izzy. Normally, he'd be less physical with Evie, but these were not normal times, so Evie got lifted off her feet into a huge bear hug."

"You're okay! You're not see-through and everything!" Evie was squeaking as she hugged him back, partly from lack of air. "Hi Sam! It worked! Oh, huzzah! Ack. Aiee. Air..."

Right, breathing. He set her down on her feet, still grinning. "And everything," he agreed. "You did it. You said you would, and you did!" That required some sort of tangible recognition, so he leaned down to press a kiss to her cheek. "Thank you."
