Leggings-- that is a great idea!

We dye eggs with onion skins too, only we just put them straight in the water. I've used some other natural dyes over the years as well, but onions skins are the traditional basic.

I'm curious-- as an artist, do you work at all with found objects?

I used to have to wear the dreaded pantyhose. They do make useful ponytail holders that don't pull on the hair so much like the rubberband-like ones. But you can only wear them a couple times before they get too stretched out.
Then I found tights. Tights lasted *a lot* longer than constantly-getting-a-run-pantyhose. When those became too faded too wear we turned them into cat/dog toys. They were gentler on dog's teeth doing a tug-of-war game. And the smaller ones were light enough for cat to flip in the air if they wanted to. Although, depending on how one tied up the tights it could look like a detached penis, lol.
A friend of an aunt of mine did the same rug/mat thing, only with those big black plastic bags. She used it as a welcome mat.
of course, now we don't have to wear pantyhose or tights anymore except when we want to.
You first link didn't work, btw.

this one: http://www.aboutmyplanet.com/daily-green-tips/interesting-pantyhose ? It works for me! (Maybe their server was down?)

What is the difference between pantyhose & tights? I thought they were one & the same-?! Do you mean tights = more opaque & warmer pantyhose with a higher density/DEN number?

That's interesting - using them as ponytail holders! I am thinking about environmentally friendly hair accessories, but wooden sticks or such seem more eco-friendly so far.. (Trouble is, I have too short ones!;) the rubber bands go 'slack'...

Welcome mat from black plastic bags LOL How did people/visitors like it?
In high school, we had a poetry reading dressed in big black plastic bags once... ;) Only it wasn't really reuse...

Yes, tights are more opaque and usually made with some kind of Spandax/Nylon blend. If you actually pull a string out of tights, the string will stay there but you wouldn't see any runs/ladders on the tights like you do with regular pantyhose.
The black plastic bag mats have to be put outside the house (or a mud room)because they do at times stain the floors. I guess they're okay, just like any other rug/mat.*shrug*
