And lo and behold off the back of what can only be described as a catastrophic Brexit meeting, the UK media are running today with a story about the evil EU banning our powerful vacuum cleaners! Those scum! We'll be good rid of them!

One of the main objections Brexit voters I have spoken to is that the EU does enforce environmental policies, like this directive concerning vacuum cleaners. A lot of people really don't give a shit about the environment and think such rules shouldn't exist. Trump seems to be tearing up pretty much every environmental rule in the US, and I wonder how many will be treated similarly in the UK post-Brexit.

Interesting, so there's a crossover between Brexit Voters and Climate Change Deniers.

But yes, there do seem to be lots of people who even when faced with Austin/India/etc, still deny there is a problem. I imagine even if they were sitting in their houses 4 feet underwater, they'd deny there was a problem.

Happy birthday by the way.

No, not climate change deniers. I'm not talking about climate change. Just people who don't care about the environment and who think that any law that impacts on them for the sake of the environment is a waste of time.

"We should be investing _heavily_ in better infrastructure right now. Heck, we should have been for a few years, considering how cheaply we can borrow."
Don't get me started. This is one of the biggest missed opportunities, if not the biggest since Thatcher used North Sea Oil money to fund tax cuts in the 80s.

Oh I expect we'll borrow to fund the Brexit bill though.
