They could just abolish school uniform...

No.

Uniforms are good.

They greatly reduce incidences of bullying and a lot of other negative shit.

They are particularly helpful for female students because clothing issues can be a super distraction and very emotionally destructive particularly in the early teen years.

Yeah, I didn't have a particularly unhappy time as a teenager at school but I'd have hated it if we'd had no uniform. I went to schools with uniforms from age 9 and it saved so much stress!

I'd like to see unisex uniforms in the UK- skirts cause massive bullying peer pressure issues for girls. In my sons' school the older girls put massive pressure on the 11-12 year olds to wear shorter and shorter skirts. I'd far rather have trousers for both sexes, and anyone who needed greater cover up for religious/modesty reasons could wear the equivalent length skirt, or a skirt over trousers as a compromise.

> Especially keen on making their presence felt were the French, many of whom migrated from their traditional homes in London’s Kensington to the New Town. French restaurants, bistros and cafes became a common part of the scene for the new “elite ecosse”.

Erm... has the author of this Indie article actually visited Edinburgh? This is how Edinburgh is like RIGHT NOW. I hear French speakers whenever I go out. There are several French-speaking kids at my kid's nursery, and I bump into several others at the local playpark.

And as for French restaurants in Edinburgh... I can name a dozen, easily.

If you want to be undesexualized, just take off your shirt and jog around the neighborhood. It will be appreciated.

In my experience, the general response to me taking my top off has been negative.

(Not by everyone, but I've had very few people in my life tell me that I'm at all attractive.)

That works for people I'm already dating, but it doesn't seem to work for anyone else.

My prediction is that if a hard border wall went up then RyanAir and EasyJet would simply start running a lot of routes from every major city on the mainland to Scotland.

Yup.

And we already fly to a lot of places, it would just increase. We have lots of finance here, and being able to continue doing that in English would make us more valuable.

Yep and people would be willing to pay for the flights to avoid going through real customs in the UK and then again when entering Scotland.

Quite possibly, but nobody is saying that a hard border between England and Scotland wouldn't have (lots of) official crossing points. You'd need the same customs and immigration checks whether you're flying, driving or walking across the border.

Here's the dick pics discussion on tumblr, rather than the bunch of images. Please stop doing this! It looks terrible on a high-res screen, if nothing else.

Sorry, I'm afraid that FB and Twitter links that have image previews get a _lot_ more views and clicks. So much as I'd rather link to the original, it would be shooting myself in the foot if I actually want people to read them.

Surely it's not beyond the wit of man to include an image preview and a proper link, though?

Possibly. I'll add it to my to-do list.

(Note: I have no idea how dlvr.it sends links over to FB and Twitter, and I suspect that having two links in a tweet/post will confuse them a lot. But I'll experiment when I have some spare time.)
