In addition to all of the other Oscars it didn't deserv a_pawson March 3 2017, 12:26:43 UTC
I don't understand enough about hair & make-up to have an opinion on who should have won that particular award. I do know, however, that award for is only voted for by Academy members who worked in that field, so hopefully they have more of a clue than I do.

I did not know that the Series of Unfortunate Events film won an Oscar. Or U-571. Or The Nutty Professor. Death Becomes Her. City Slickers. Dick Tracy got 3! Harry adn the Hendersons?! Innerspace?! Once you get back past 1980, a whole b unch of films I haven't heard of

Oh, Dick Tracy? That won Oscars? Geezus. Madonna must have pulled in a lot of favours for that.

Yeah, that's a winner for worst movie to have won an oscar, for sure.

At the risk of being contrarian, IMO there's no -way- Star Trek: Beyond deserved that Oscar over Suicide Squad.

Trek just had a bunch of forgettable humanoid aliens. No matter the techniques or care involved, or the number of variations, they were stil just Person With Some Silicone To Make Their Nose Or Whatever Look Weird #273. Even the more ambitious ones were instantly forgettable.

Suicide Squad, while generally a rather poor film, gave its characters iconic appearances that stood out and stuck in the mind.

If the Spanish restaurant that got scammed by 120 dine-and-dashers didn't take the deposit with a card, well, now they will.

Some of our better restaurants have changed their policy in recent years.

"OVERSEAS RESERVATIONS AND LARGE PARTY BOOKINGS (6 GUESTS or OVER)
WILL REQUIRE CREDIT CARD DETAILS TO SECURE CONFIRMATION."

Then there are the deliberate no-shows which is an obnoxious thing to do. It's where a group may make reservations at different restaurants and choose which to dine at on the night. It's resulted in a response where you get blacklisted from making a booking for a year.

And that is why we can't have nice things.
