Was that headline for Scalzi's photo of the moon your view?

If so I'm surprised. A crescent moon is often pictured with the dark portion illuminated by earthshine. I have several myself.

I don't think I've ever seen one that showed the dark portion lit before.

Possibly I just haven't seen many photos of a crescent moon.

I'm more used to photos like this:

The difficulty is in balancing the exposure, as Scalzi said.

The earthshine is most obvious at the new moon - that is why you can see the new moon! As the crescent gets larger, it gets harder and harder to see the dark portion.

Here you go - one of mine - very narrow crescent, lots of earthshine.

I'd like to see every antiabortion person in Arkansas be forced to adopt every baby that would otherwise be aborted, raising them until said child is no longer in need of their "humanitarian" idealism, especially if the life of the mother is in danger/she's not even the age of consent/the biological parents are blood related/the biological "father" couldn't legally consent for whatever reason.

They would quit within months, especially if there are extremely severe birth defects like the ones that occurred with my late mother's firstborn she literally had no brain at all or if the biological "father" sues them for visitation due to being incarcerated for the biological mother's rape.

I'm surprised that it is not more commonly observed that D&D appears to have originated as an homage to the London Underground. I lost track of how much money I lost the week before the London Worldcon.
