One person of colour on TV panels of five to eight people in total is actually perfectly reasonable representation, if perhaps a bit monotonous -- it's a good match for the 14% non-white population. One woman, not so much.

Absolutely. Although I would expect none occasionally and more than one sometimes.

And yesterday I retweeted this:

I'm not sure how the world is going to plan for the oddness and chaos of random extreme weather events. I don't suppose we can, we just have to accept a future where every now and then a storm will come along and wipe out somewhere that has never been hit before. And home and contents insurance will become a thing that only the very rich can afford.

LIbrary article is awesome.

The steam sponge sounds pretty cool.

I'm not sure about using the steam for power generation. If they mean sending the steam directly through a turbine then its usually super-heated high pressure steam. I wonder if they mean running the warm steam through a heat-recovery steam generator to concentrate the heat into high pressure steam. My lack of mechanical engineering is letting me down.

I think I'm an incurable pessimist. "Imagining yourself in the future, after everything has gone as well as it possibly could. You have worked hard and succeeded at accomplishing all the goals of your life" ... I *know* me. In such a future, I'd be horribly depressed unless and until I thought up some brand new, harder, challenge for myself and got obsessed with trying to do it. I've achieved several huge goals and afterwards it's depression, or tearing my life apart (possibly purely to make merely existing challenging enough)  - usually both.

British TV really is diverse (and enjoyable).
