How much light can you buy for a day's wages? cartesiandaemon June 25 2016, 11:26:04 UTC
Wad the petrel ring true or a joke? Either way, a fascinating history, so many things have got immeasurably better, eventually.

Thousands Of British Refugees Make Dangerous Journey Ac cartesiandaemon June 25 2016, 11:29:26 UTC
Ugh :( I take the point, but that seems horrible to people who've actually died doing that, or anyone who might, if things go worse and worse, actually need to flee the UK for their lives :( (for many, it's 'just' economic, but the human rights act is there for a reason :( )

Yeah, I'm largely taking David Cameron not signing article 50 as "Fuck you Boris, you can take us out of Europe."

Have you read Jack of Kent's piece on the non-invoking of Article 50?

I now have at least two people who think Theresa May is the most likely next PM. Really, I can't see how Boris could do it. How many Tory MPs would be willing to shut up and let him run things his way? The current Labour Party is a well-trained drilling squad by comparison with what would happen.

I'm enormously tickled by Sturgeon's making of an alliance of convenience with London and NI.

Here's another collection of Brexiters who didn't realize their votes would count.

Concerning the quality of the Remain campaign: when the big gun you have to roll out is Gordon Brown, you know you're in trouble. While it's a mercy that Heath and Jenkins didn't have to live to see this day, I do have the feeling they'd have been able to organize a better Remain campaign than this: they did it in 1975, after all.

the cornwall funding thing is entirely reasonable, given that's what Leave promised...

I missed the bit where Leave promised that.

(And, frankly, the bit where Leave had the ability to actually promise anything.)

One wonders what power people thought the Leave campaign had to actually promise anything.
