The Telegraph should be ashamed of itself. On the other hand, if you don't want people to see you without your clothes on, don't take them off in a public place in the middle of one of the busiest cities in the world where pretty much everyone carries a camera. It's not hard (oo-er...)

Yeah, one of the things that's really obvious to me is that in the future we will technically have less privacy, and that we're going to have to develop new levels of ettiquette for dealing with this, while also acknowledging that some people _will_ do things you'd rather not. And, frankly, we'll have to get willing to say "Fuck it, I want to sunbathe topless, and if that means that some people catch that on film, it's nothing to be ashamed of."

Well, the current Ultimates Spider-man, Miles Morales, is African American/Latino and is about 14 years old. He has fans crawling out of the woodwork, as it were. That book is, I believe, the most well-reviewed and best selling of the current Ultimates line. There is a small amount of talk of Miles making the jump to TV.

Meanwhile, over in the main line (616) Peter Parker's body has been usurped by Otto Octavius (therefore leading to the current Spider-man being referred to by fans as Sp0ck) and he's been around for nearly a year now.

So - could Spider-man be black? Yes, well, he is.

Could he be a very dark 'hero' entirely different from the original Lee/Ditko character? Yes, well, he is.

Thank you for saying all that so I don't have to.

I actually thought the essay was going to be about the Ultimate Spider-Man.

When I got far enough to realise it wasn't, I was hopping up and down yelling "What is wrong with you? It's a meaningless question because Spider-Man is black! Why are you writing all this guff?!"

Honestly, some people.

And, unlike the Doc Ock thing, it is pretty much certain that Bendis's revamp of Ultimate Spider-man will stick. There's no yelling of "Bring Back Peter!" as there is with 616.

Yeah, Rilstone has a really specific and abstruse and convoluted style. That there have been black Spidermans (Spidermen?) will no doubt be something he expects to form part of the point he's making.

I got far too excited about Oregon Trail for a long time thanks to that link. :) I fear I was quite insufferable on the subject (and other games by the MECC, and my surprise when I learned that other states were not lucky enough to get their own ECCs and mine was special, and the greatness of Minnesota generally...) for quite a while. But it doesn't even start to make up for how much I've had to listen to Andrew going on about Acorn Electrons and stuff.

Far more interesting than Acorn Electrons, too :->

The "Organ Trail" zombie pastiche is worth playing for a bit.

I tried it. I didn't get it. I think it's one of those things which only works if you're familiar with the original, which I wasn't (indeed, still am not).

I wasn't familiar with the original except by reputation. Given it was something like 1.99 I was more than happy with the entertainment per penny.
