As far as that drone strike report goes, I've seen quotes from supposed US documents that refer to children killed in drone strikes with phrases along the lines of "potential aggressor". Since the US appear to see anyone hit by a drone strike as being by definition a combatant, of course they're going to disagree about the number of civilians killed...

I read this as being them admitting it internally, but then changing the numbers when they report externally.

Which isn't a massive surprise, of course. You'd think that eventually they'd learn that secrets don't last.

Did you see the documentary last night about the orphans in Afghanistan? They had entire orphanages of kids who had lost their parents/families to drone strikes. Estimated to be thousands of them. And Al Quada is there, teaching them to hate the USA and Britain.

Utter bloody disaster, this entire envolvement in Afghanistan.

“Thousands” of drone orphans? That's a fuck of a lot of drone strikes. My skepticism is inflamed.

Some other Settlers of Catan variants may be found at http://toothycat.net/wiki/wiki.pl?SettlersOfCatan/HouseRules . I'm sure the internet is full of other options too, but those are the ones we have quite some experience with.

I've posted that over on Shannon's blog, as you hadn't. I assume he liked it :->

Thanks for the link to that Mechanics and Meeples blog. Not come across it before. Board games and psychology, two of my favourite things :)

It's a good blog. The guy behind it (Shannone Applecline) is smart and good with games - I was lucky enough to meet him about 8 years ago when I went to LA.

I was hoping that would be about The Rock and his involvement in shower routines. :)

Just out of curiousity, are there any readers who don't know what the shower rock would (probably) be used for? It seems pretty clear to me but I wonder if that's the common assumption.

I assumed it was satire.

If I had to guess, I'd go for rubbing off dead skin? Although why a flannel wouldn't work for that, I have no idea.

It's the Onion, I'm pretty sure it is satire.

Yes, but I assumed that they picked a rock because "Why would anyone use a rock?"

I'm aware of Pumice Stones, so I thought that was maybe an option.
