i saw this when it was broadcast and the only thing i can recall is the bea arthur cantina sequence which was great at the time. anyone used to the old variety shows would find some appreciation of the holiday special.
I became a bit confused with my childhood understanding of SW in Revenge of the Sith when it turned out Chewie is female.
When I first saw this thing, I had not yet seen Star Wars, though all of my friends were raving about it, and one cousin had (fairly accurately) related the entire story to me.
My fourteen year-old self was very confused, and suddenly didn't want to see this movie after all. In fact, I think I first watched the actual movie in the 90s.
Facebook app has had a major overhaul recently. I still tend towards the full website version but have heard several Android users mention how good the app is now. I should. Check out my app version of it too.
The article is talking about the latest version. And it's shit - the refresh doesn't work well, "clicking" on things is iffy, and it's not nearly as good a it was before this version.
It's possible it works better on higher-end Android phone, but on mine the mobile website is much better.
I don't see any difference between the Sta Wars Holiday Special and the rest of the Star Wars franchise. They are all mildly entertaining, and not very deep.

It's seriously entertaining. Chebacca's family is hysterical and Carrie Fischer singing is up there with Shatnter at his best.
