True, there are versions of the vampire mythos in which once you're turned your body is restored to a "young, fit adult" state. IIRC that happened with Jack Fleming in Pat Elrod's Vampire Files novels (not that he lost too many years in the process, but he did end up looking a few years younger--and having trouble getting people to take him seriously).

Also with Lynsay Sands' Argenau Vampires series. You are returned to your perfect/ideal age, weight, condition, etc, regardless of how much older you were when you turned.

Oh yeah, that's the type of vampire I would choose to be. :)
Optimal body and no sparkles.

"Vampires Paid My Mortgage" would be a good title for a song.

Just sayin'.

...and I'd observed that the readers of vampire fiction are very loyal to their genre; they'll read anything with a set of fangs on the cover in the desperate hope of finding something decent.

Until they haplessly run into Stephenie Meyers at wich point the whole vampire obsession comes to a screeching halt for a good time...XD! Ack.

Speaking of Vampire Lore, have you seen the BBC series "Being Human" take on vampires? (The show is really, really worth watching btw!):

(I hope you can see this - it should work. I'm outside the UK and see it...if not, I'll find it somewhere else!)

LOVE the BBC BH. Haven't seen the US version yet.

I was watching the first ep on a friend's DVR when the doorbell rang. I paused it and when I returned I saw that I had frozen it in a scene where Aidan was talking to his sire and his expression was like he was sucking lemons. Any appeal for me died then and there. I'll probably keep watching a few more eps to see if they have any plans from deviating from the British version but it really does not look promising...IMO.

Sadly, the American version does not have the "Mitchell" eye-candy... plus, there is more whining than the BBC version.
Not sure why they recreated this instead of picking up something new, but the network choices have long eluded me.

*sigh*

Vicky and I nearly died laughing reading this (Heather's crashed already, I'll make sure she sees it in the morning).
