Eight Days - Day One

So there's this meme going around; for eight days post something that makes you happy. There's been a lot bad news out there lately but I can pretty much guarantee there's been a lot good news too, it just doesn't get the same kind of press.

Today, this made me happy.

Il Divo: Proof that even Simon Cowell can give the world beautiful things. :-D

I think I get the biggest kick out of their crossover arrangements of pop tunes in, say, Italian. The "Unbreak My Heart" one kills me.

There was a shot of Simon during that the video of Susan Boyle singing "I had a Dream" where he looks positively beautific.

Who wouldn't? I now have a third association with that song that will stick with me, to go along with the Forbidden Broadway version ("I dreamed a show in days gone by/When plots were light and sets were pretty/I wouldn't sing one song and die/And all the costumes weren't so gritty") and the karaoke party at MidOhioCon. But I only made Andy Hallett cry, not the world.

This is worth the reading.

"Scotland the Brave" used to be the one song I could recognise the moment a pipe band started up... I'm not positive I could anymore so I guess I should listen to it a few dozen times. *g*
