The HP help line has once again proven themselves to be actually helpful. My first laptop was a HP and in order to go on line I had to gear the modem down. (okay that's not technically what I had to do but essentially I was trying to drive a sports car on a goat track and had to get it into a lower gear) The nice young man at the HP help line ( Read more... )

*laughs* at the hold music comment.

There have even been recently posted internal "open suggestion box" messages about how bad the hold music is. These go in the portal that is seen on login by all English-speaking HP employees - that's, oh, call it 50,000 or so.

Could be worse - some years back, the hold music was a classical loop and tended to be "Ride of the Valkyries" - not something you wanted to pump an angry caller up with prior to being dumped on the poor defenseless Response Center engineer...

I did mention that callers might be less cranky with some better music. She offered to keep the phone on and hum at me. I liked her!

Oh - I forgot - can I pass on your message, along with your actual name, to that same internal message box? We see lots of "this bad thing happened to a friend of mine, HP needs to do better" messages; a "look at the great response from well-known person" would be nice for people to see.

Go for it! The whole 'everyone talks about the bad stuff but no one ever mentions the good stuff' problem is why I posted.

Congrats on the good Tech Support! Sounds like you got a winner for sure. When you get a good Tech Help desk person, it's like a diamond among pebbles.

She was significantly more helpful than the most recent tech support at my ISP, that's for sure.
