Maggie didn’t understand the odd looks she got as she trailed behind the rest of her friends toward the room the company had assigned them to practice in. And she didn’t notice anything different until she went to grab her water from her bag and heard a familiar meow. Stunned, she stared at Tabitha, who sat primly next to her bag. If a cat could look innocent, she did. “What are you doing here?” she demanded of the cat, who merely licked her whiskers, looking smug, now.

“She followed you all the way from the apartment,” MinHee said.

“Why didn’t you guys tell me?”

“Because she looked so lonely we couldn’t bear it,” YiJae said.

Maggie sighed. “Curious, are you?” she asked, and Tabitha meowed. “Fine. It’s likely to be boring. We’re in here for hours, but I’ll take you up to see the sunset. It’ll be amazing.”

And up there, she could tell her companion about the dragon she’d seen. She didn’t dare tell her with anyone else around.

By the end of the day, Maggie wanted to just collapse, but she had promised. She gathered Tabitha into her arms and carried her upstairs. To her surprise the roof wasn’t empty. It had been, ever since SooYoung had shown her the sunset, so to see Zhou Mi made her pause a moment. Then she shrugged and hefted Tabitha onto her shoulders. “See?” she said softly. “Aren’t the colors amazing?”

“I heard you had a follower today,” Zhou Mi said.

Maggie turned to smile at him, then winced when Tabitha dug her claws into her. “Ouch, stop that!” she said, and the cat relaxed.

“She’s pretty,” Zhou Mi said, offering his hand to her. Tabitha glared at him, but didn’t swipe at him, and Maggie had the idea that if she weren’t where she was, she’d had changed into her biggest form and tried to… do something. Which would just blow their cover, and the Korean government would have to figure out where the tiger had come from. “Don’t worry,” he added, his eyes on the cat, not Maggie. “I won’t hurt her.”

She heard no amusement in his voice, and would have sworn that Tabitha did not know Korean, and yet her cat calmed right down, putting her head under his hand, purring.

“You are very confusing,” she said, and sighed. “Really. Have you ever seen a dragon?”

He gave her a sharp look, then shrugged. “I haven’t been so blessed,” he said, and she wondered why it felt like he lied. “Have you?”

She shrugged as well. “I thought I did, but… the woman with me didn’t, so maybe I was just seeing things.”

He laughed. “I seriously doubt you ‘just see things’,” he said, then leaned down and kissed her forehead. “Enjoy the sunset.”

She waited to flail and rant her not understanding for at least five minutes after he closed the door, and even then she kept her voice down so it wouldn’t carry to the street. In the off chance he understood English.
