That... sounds like something else is going on. Maybe give it some time, and then maybe he'll be ready to talk? Either way, I'm really sorry. That really really sucks. Especially when you don't see it coming. I've been there. And it's absolutely horrible. But it'll get better. You'll be okay. I am sorry, though. :(

Thanks Liz. I sent an email and he responded with a more complete answer. Apparently he's been feeling like we've been drifting apart for months now, and he just hasn't been so happy. He said he feels a strong imperative to be "romantically free" right now, so I guess the commitment was just too much. He said he thought he was ready for how deep our relationship got, but he wasn't. I just wish he'd talked to me about it so I might have seen it coming, or maybe even could have resolved it. Either way, I'm just glad I have some good friends in San Diego to help me through it.
