My daughter's latest HP pages

Aug 18, 2005 12:00

She's bored with the old and onto the new(ish). Having just finished Harry Potter #6 this week, she'll have to add that review to her site. But in the meantime, could you visit her Harry Potter 5 page? There's even the start of a fanfic at the bottom of the page!

Thanks. She appreciates the sentiment and tells me that she'll update the page with her review of book six when the counter hits 30.

Goal-oriented much? She's my kid, I can tell!

Very nice page. :D

I agree with her review of the book. Anything that takes that long to read definitely deserves a point knocked off. ;)

I disagree! The longer, the better! And not that I expect this of a pre-teen, of course, but I read it in a single night.

Well, I'm pretty sure I coloured her views of books four and five, both of which I found lacked a bit of punch due to poor editing. I tried reading book five out loud to her but even one chapter a night was enough to task my voice and I'm used to delivering eighty minutes of lecture at one go!

Great page! (I notice the fanfic is to be continued...)

I love the comment about the length of the book. Tight editing is a rare thing; I'm always reminded of Pascal's "I have made this letter longer than usual, only because I have not had time to make it shorter."

That's a wonderful quote which I will treasure and trot out to share with my undergraduates when they get overly ambitious in their essay proposals.

Yes! I can think of several published works out there that may have benefited from this advice. I know that I've certainly had to use it on my own writing, too.
