Ah well. Eldest finally got to watch High School Musical. It was on broadcast and she had a friend over for a playdate so they watched it together and gossiped about cute boys on whom they have crushes

Though the subtlty of their discourse is more akin to bashing someone over the head with a crutch than anything else!

My computer desk is in the living room so, perforce, I watched it with them. It was mildly amusing. What amuses me more is, going over to your picspam commentary, what the girls were saying matches up a lot with your comments (about the hair, about the typical high school scenes and the color-coordinated clothing on everyone all the time).

Zoom is, sad to say, not in the same league of riproaring funny as Galaxyquest. There are some fun bits, don't get me wrong, and Tim Allen is most amusing -- but I'd rate it below the Spy Kids movies in terms of appeal.

We enjoyed Zoom. It is not, please understand, without it's flaws but we had quite a bit of fun nonetheless. The Boy and his cousins thought it was cool (aside from a minor mildly romantic arc which elicited one or two gagging sounds from the tween).

Youngest seemed to like it quite a bit (though she still dragged me out to the bathroom during the opening scene and the dance party scene, just out of pure nerves and excitement) but I agree that it was fun with flaws.
