Where I've hit a word-count percentage milestone so I offer you all drabbles to....bump up my wordcount some more? At any rate, tonight I hit 40% of my goal for the year, and tomorrow is April Fool's day. Neither of these things will probably have any impact on the drabble you get ( Read more... )

My default prompt when it comes to these things: Eames riding Arthur. If you'd like more specifics, it can be on a couch instead of a bed. But I'm not picky :D

i'm sorry; this took forever to write. you've probably forgotten you'd asked for anything. um. plus side, it's several hundred words too many to be a proper drabble?

Eames riding Arthur, on a couch

Neat goal :) I wrote about 165,000 words last year and 140,000 words the year before that, and I am a naturally... erm... verbose writer who is also incorrigibly into novel writing. So attempting to double that wordcount is very impressive to me! Good luck in your quest!

I am really really impressed with anyone who tries/succeeds at writing something that's novel-length. Just keeping a single story coherent that long, it's amazing to think about.

Maybe you'd be interested in doing getyourwordsout next year--they've even got a special set of novel-centered goals. getyourwordsout is how (why?) i'm doing this project. It's my third year, so I started at their minimum and have increased by 50k each year since. I swear half of my 250k from last year was in 1 sentence drabbles though. People stopped answering my emails XD

Novel-writing is a lot of a work, but I, personally, find it immensely satisfying in a way that writing a lot of shorter works isn't. Every idea I come across I want to expand into a full-size novel, but then I have to remind myself that I'm writing for a challenge/deadline/whatever and need to pull back on the scale, lol. Still, I produced a 90,000 word story in SPN over the course of 6 months a couple of years ago and seem to be on target to finish an Inception WIP that should be at least 90,000 words long by the end of this year too, so I am pretty happy with my ability to finish long term projects that I embark on.

GYWO looks really interesting! I'll have to look into joining it next year; based on my pattern, it looks like I might be able to do a pledge like 200k to start.

THAT IS SO COOL JKLEAIJL;GEKAGEIOJAL;A OMG i cannot even express how awesome that is. you may be my new hero. js.

yes!! come join me! it's actually a lot of fun, and the comm has posts to help you meet your wordcount goals all the time, and can be a place to post things you've written, etc. but my favourite thing is the spreadsheet some talented person makes that figures out how much you need to write a day to hit your count.
