- Arthur/Eames - blanket hogging.

- Arthur/Eames - Eames trying to explain the term 'ned' or 'chav' to Arthur, who is being purposely obtuse.

ned
Noun. A young, poorly educated, working class person, usually male, who dresses in casual sportswear. Derog. [Orig. Scottish]

- Arthur/Eames - yakuza!AU. I WANT THIS.

"Young Boss," Tanaka says. Arthur assumes he does, anyway. He can't actually hear him with the sound-proofing ear muffs on. Tanaka just wouldn't call him anything else.

Arthur's not nearly done. The paper target at the opposite end of the range doesn't have more than a handful of precise holes clustered around the head and heart of the dark silhouette. Arthur pulls off his ear muffs and suppresses a sigh. Tanaka wouldn't interrupt unless it was important.

"Yes?"

"It's the Boss," Tanaka says. "He's calling for you."

"Thank you, Tanaka," Arthur says, neatly disassembling his gun and leaving it on the table in the range. Tanaka pulls a quick bow, head bowed, hands on his knees, as Arthur passes.

Arthur picks up his actual piece just outside the shooting range door; it never hurts to be armed. Dad doesn't call unless it's an emergency.

*

"Excuse me?" Arthur asks, and he hates it, repeating himself, being caught off guard like this, but he just. He needs to hear it again to make sure. Just this one time ( ... )

Eames picks up the Japanese quick. Arthur makes a note of that too. It could come in handy. As Arthur's second, Eames somewhere around fourth in command in the hierarchy, under Arthur and then his father's right hand man: and then there's Eames. A stranger. An outsider.

Arthur isn't trusting, and Eames hasn't had a chance to prove himself.

The boys below aren't happy. They've been working and waiting. Eames doesn't have any ties to them.

The boys have been loyal, and loyalty is rewarded by moving up. You do your duty, and you do it well, and you get taken up in the ranks. Given more responsibility. Given more stake in the family business.

They're yakuza, not Honda Kabushiki Gaisha. They don't bring foreign CEOs in over people's heads. They don't need help running their business, and not just because they're better at tax fraud.

Arthur lets Eames fight his own fights--fists, and sometimes knives--and he proves that he is dangerous. Arthur puts a stop to things after a few weeks. Eames has carved himself a place; Arthur doesn't ( ... )

"What's this?" Kuroki says, stopping short inside the door. There's a small package on the table, wrapped up in expensive black matte paper, and tied with a thin strip of cream ribbon. It's sitting in front of Kuroki's place. Kuroki can't help but regard it with suspicion. It's her nature ( ... )

Arthur/Eames - Arthur thinks Valentine's day is lame, which makes Eames sad but then Arthur does something spectacular for Eames.

Arthur/Eames - Arthur finds out that Eames is spectacularly good at domestic things.

Arthur finds out that Eames is spectacularly good at domestic things--but still loves to torture him anamuan February 10 2011, 22:34:58 UTC
Arthur is used to being good at things. He doesn't have to be the best at everything, but he does like to be passable at anything that might be valuable later. General life skills fall under that heading. Arthur can sew a button back on just as well as he can stitch a wound--it'll scar, but it should hold until you can get to a professional. He doesn't cook much, but he knows how, and he's got a couple of staple dishes he can pull out to feed himself. Arthur is tidy, and basic cleaning always seemed more like common sense than a particular skill, but that was before he'd moved in with Eames.

The house is just, somehow, neater. It's not something Arthur can explain. There isn't any dust on the window sills. The kitchen counters are always clear. Arthur does the dishes automatically whenever they're in the sink, but there are never weeks' worth of already dry plates still sitting in the drying rack, and the groceries never just get left on the counter until later. Books get cleared up off the end table, and the first thing Eames wants ( ... )

this is so fricken adorable. ♥ Eames sewing is best thing ever, rivaled only by Arthur appreciating the deadliness of knitting needles.

It's quiet in the middle of the night. Koyama lies wide awake and tries not to think. He's better at not moving around too much, because Ryo doesn't sleep enough and Koyama doesn't want tossing to wake him ( ... )

This is amazing, omg, thank you so much. I love how much you leave unsaid, but you still manage to get that lingering feeling of unease through. Part of me is curious to know exactly what's going on, and part of me never ever wants to find out D:

Thank you ♥
