People lock their fic journals out of SHAME. They should just get an alter ego, obv.

even the stuff i don't like, i can't ever see myself locking. if i thought it was worth posting once, then my shame should live on for all eternity.

i haven't written anything that would need to be locked for those reasons.

I was thinking more along the lines of after you'd written them, and they've been up for a while, and maybe you've changed fandoms, or left fic-writing for a while. Why would you go back months later, and then lock a journal? Though i do think you've got a point about locked fic journals in general. How would such a person garner a fanbase if they're...so annoying?

Well, it depends... if someone locks an entire journal and then link to fics on it from a comm, that's probably looking for attention. If someone locks a fic journal and keeps it to themselves they're probably just self-conscious/don't want to share with strangers/afraid of LJ/etc. :)
