oh, no. Thesis was turned in 3/28 (4 AM Pacific time), because it was due that day and it was easier to turn it in before going to sleep. So, getting the thesis back was about the thesis. The whining at the top of the page is related to my Language and Identity paper (30 pages) which is due May 9th. I gave my final presentation on the paper/topic today in class. As of last Monday, i still wasn't sure what my topic really was, despite giving 2 presentations on it already. And i gave my final presentation today, complete with conclusions, and i'm still not entirely sure if what i said was worth all the trouble, so that's why i don't feel good about it.

JL;KAFJ;LAF;LJFA what are the dates? ;jklafljfa THAT IS EXCITING!!

May 17th. My graduation is the friday before (the 16th), so i remember. won't be in town, though. I think i have to leave right after graduation--my friend from home is having her bridal shower the 17th. She's been very inconvenient for me lately. Doesn't she know that she needs to plan her wedding around my life?

Why do I feel like I've been in absentia from your journal? And because I have to leave at 8, I will try and type this really really quickly so that you can at least be comforted(?) by having me blither.

I'm glad you made it through the presentation. And boo on profs randomly changing due dates! Actually, I should amend that. Boo of profs randomly changing due dates AFTER YOU'VE ALREADY STRESSED AND FINISHED THE ASSIGNMENT!!! Extensions are more about the stress reduction of having push-time than about the actual larger amount of time (though that's no small bananas either).

Oh Debby. She is such a product of the by-hand linguistics generation.

Every day you make a conscious decision to not buy wine, put the $4.50 somewhere else and save it to buy something special. Like really awesome shoes or green tea ice cream or whatever you want to work towards.

Mmmm. Delicious food. We had fajitas the other night and they just hit the spot.

What is pomulo?

i know my religion isn't all that popular right now, but. i've seen a lot ( ... )

i just explained registration to shatteredinu for a school that is not my own over the internets.

i think you should ask another question. or write that paper on intertextuality.

Gee, given that option, I wonder which one I'll choose.

Out of curiosity, what brought up the religion discussion?

What movie would you really like to watch right now to cheer you up?

intertextuality is when someone says something that's not their 'own words' but is referencing something else. You don't necessarily have to know the 'original' as long as there's some level or awareness that you're 'taking someone else's words.' So allusions, quotes, etc, are all intertextual. One other thing that makes it a broader category (aside from not necessarily needing to know what you're referencing) is that your use of the quote is in your own context. Part of the meaning is taken from the 'original' (or general, if you don't know the specific original) meaning in the 'original' context, but part of the meaning is also taken from your new, reuse of the term ( ... )
