Let's talk about Ziyal

I forgot how much Dukat is in the first few episodes of Season 6. He's so oily. The one scene with Kira, you can see how he could, if he had no self control, sexually assault her. It's also the beginning of official Kira/Odo inklings. Poor Odo ( Read more... )

My thoughts as well.
You hit the nail.
She did worship him blindly.
He was her world.
He was also the one who saved her from slavery and stood by her while his whole family and wife shunned him for because of her.
So Dukat did a lot for her and for those things he deserved her trust.

She also didn't get to see the other side to him, the cold calculating, crew leader who murdered and tortured many.
She never saw that side to him for two reasons.
1. She wasn't there during the occupation.
2. She just was in capable of seeing him in any other way other than a good man who had done many things he regrets.

Glad that you are re-watching this.

Marc was amazing in the end of course.

And yes, he could have had his way with Kira.
I think even he had limits though.
Even that was beneath him.
Mostly because he thought he was a good person, and that he wanted Kira to come to him because she saw the real good in him.
Wrong and way off base, but that is how I saw it.

True. Ziyal does have reasons for how she feels and as much as I can't stand Nana, I admire her fight for the character of Kira and staying consistent about Dukat, and not giving in. I like the tease they give us that the attraction on her side was there, but she just despised him too much.

I forgot that in subsequent episodes Ziyal wisens up a bit about Dukat and God bless Dad for having the DVDs, but Ziyal finally does what's right even though she loves Dukat as her father. Excellent seeing Marc in that role. Dukat as father.
