I forgot how much Dukat is in the first few episodes of Season 6. He's so oily. The one scene with Kira, you can see how he could, if he had no self control, sexually assault her. It's also the beginning of official Kira/Odo inklings. Poor Odo.
But let's for a moment talk about Ziyal. Sons and Daughters specifically. While her intentions are good, and she is sooo innocent, I want to say almost to the point of Gullibility. I mean, she can SEE how torn Kira is when Dukat invites her for dinner, she can SEE that there is tension when they are in the same room, and while I know she's written that way, but in reality, no one can seem THAT dumb. It was clever of the writers to intertwine Kira and Dukat that way, I enjoy it, no doubt. But by the end of the episode, Dukat wanting to see Kira in something nice gifts her what he wants to see her in. When Kira rejects it, he turns right around and gifts it to Ziyal, who comments on how thoughtful he is. This after he just LEFT her at DS9. "We talked about that". Vague. She is very much the dutiful daughter, and I think about how she only has both Kira and Dukat in the entire universe. While I can see her loyalty to Dukat, due to blood, I can also see how hard it might be to lose Kira as a friend. God bless her though, she didn't deserve what happened to her. She was the Angel in the title, and again Marc Alaimo knocks it out of the park. I feel awful for him, even though he is inherently evil.
I guess there is something to be said for static characters. Ziyal was essentially only a child, I suppose. Bless her.
