Hi. I didn't know you had a TBI. I work in an Independent Living Center and we house the head injury center branch for our State head injury program in our office. We also have a head injury support group and i've assisted a good many of people who have TBI's in getting Social Security. I know people who have done pretty well after lots of work and positive support.

mm, yep. It's not a secret about me any more. I hid it and denied it for so long -- 23 years is long enough to suffer alone.

Anyway, yeah, getting on SSI is one of the things I'd like to do, actually. I've tried working, adn I can work to a degree, but ... overall it's just not working out for me.

Well, maybe you could find an advocate to help you with the SS process. it's overwhelming. And without support many give up until it is an emergency situation.

She suggested that I become an advocate for TBI folks like me -- do public speaking, tell people about my injury, show them that recovery is possible. Maybe even talk to people bout being careful with their heads -- people in motorcycle classes, for instance.

That's a really great idea!! rhianwyn is a smart cookie. :)
