so I gave you a packet that contained all your missing assignments. Then I gave it to you again. Two days before the work was due to be turned in, you asked me to give you the work again. I think I get better weirdness at work than you do...

Today, the School Safety Agents asked a kid to remove his jacket, hat, and jewelry and put them through the scanning machine because he was ringing up 4 red bars on the walk-through. The kid's response: dropping trou, right there in the school lobby.

SSA's tell me it's not the first time he's dropped trou, and that he cannot be suspended for it because he's "special ed."

'he cannot be suspended for it because he's "special ed."'

Can that be translated for those of us not in an education-related profession?

(That is, what kind of 'special' gives one official permission to be a goof, and does it apply for the rest of his life too?)

"Special Ed" is the label used for kids that are either learning disabled, or mentally, emotionally, or physically challenged.

In the case of a lot of the kids at my school, this means they have no anger management abilities at all (and we are talking about kids in the 14-21 age range).

The retention record for those missing assignments reminds me of mortgage documentation that distressed homeowners are sending in to the big mortgage-holding banks, over and over and over again.

All falling into the same big Black Hole?
