BAH! Bah, bah - a thousand times BAH. So, I completely fail at photoshop. COMPLETELY. No lie. I've spent like the last two hours (le sigh) working on a story banner thing for The Finish, but I CANNOT get one. Blahr. X( (Exasperated Hannah is EXASPERATED.) Oh, I've made some really sucky ones, that's for sure, but nothing really ( Read more... )

OO! OO! *waving hands vigorously in the air* Can I make you a banner? I love to make banners! Pretty please? *puppy dog eyes*

I can even send you what I did in a psd file! [well, if my program allows it, cos I use Corel, lol]

*big smile*

Yay! *dances with glee*

That sounds supa-fabulo-awesome-tastic. Hee. ^_^ Feel free to pick any quote(s) you like. And thank you so much again! Ooh, this is awesome! I've only had two people make graphic things for a story of mine before, so I consider this a huge honor. :D

I find with text, the best way to make it visible is to use a drop shadow or an outer glow...to get this you select your text layer then go to layer ->layer style or you can just double click the text layer til a box pops up...then click the box next to drop shadow and click the words drop shadow so you can change the options and stuff.

I'll have to look up how to stitch images together...I've been wanting to know how to do that for a while...possibly a gradient of opacity...not sure how that works yet though.

Thanks for the advice! Yeah, on one of the big ones I used a shadow, but I thought it just looked like I'd stuck the text on there. Heh.

Hmm... I'll have to look that up, too. I should probably try to find a tutorial or something - but I'm just lazy. *laughs* Until recently, I just used the program to recolor/etc. stuff for the Sims 2.

But thanks again! I'll try the shadow on the smaller text, see if that makes a difference that I like.

Well, I don't know how much you know about PS, but I'll just give a few tips in case you don't know them ( ... )

No, thanks so much! That was actually really helpful. Especially the second bit about the merging - I've tried a couple of different things and couldn't get them to work, so I really appreciate the advice. I'll try that, see if I can get it to look how I'd like it to!

And of course I'll try your other suggestions, as well. Hopefully that'll help; I really know next to nothing about the program. I use it primarily to clean up my own photos, recolor Sim 2 clothing, and make things rainbow colored (oh gradient, how I adore thee). I don't think I'm quite a hopeless case, but maybe close. Heh.

Thank you so very much for taking the time to explain all this to me! You gave specific instructions and I think it'll be just absurdly easy-to-follow. I greatly, greatly appreciate it - I'm such a novice when it comes to graphics; best for me to stick to the words, I think!

Glad I helped (huzzah!) ^^

Yeah, PS is a pretty overwhelming program (I own the "PhotoShop bible" - it's about 1500 pages :P), but it's made for professional use so, like many of those, it's not that user friendly :P. I don't think you can be a hopeless case at it, it just takes (plenty) time to "learn the ropes". Well, have fun with the wonderful world of banner-making ;)
