That's right, Bella--you are Edward's property. You do what he says and mind him like a good girl because he always knows what's best--because he is your boyfriend, and he owns you. He is the male, and you are the weak, mindless female. Remember that.
It just galls me to think of the message this sends impressionable teenage girls: let your boyfriend completely dominate you because men are superior to women. Women are brainless and weak and deserve no respect. They cannot stand alone without a man to totally control them.
