For the last day of my long weekend, i went for a bike ride. I zoomed out along the river to Bali and paddled my feet in the sea at the secret beach behind the shipping port, nibbling on 芋仔冰 taro icecream, 甘蔗汁 cane juice, 仙草 grass jelly and a 自助餐便當 buffet bento lunch featuring various greens and tofus on rice. This all makes me so much less interested in going back to Greece- I really don’t like dairy and so when I break vedge when traveling it’s always to eat meat (or eggs), and this all just looks so…cheesy.
Adding French fries to a standard working class food is the greatest cross cultural power move- french fry po boys, french fries in burritos, carne asada fries (which are nachos but with fries instead of chips)- all flawless examples of what can be done with a deep fryer.

I had a visceral feeling of elation looking at those blackeyed peas and greens. I ate a lot of that kind of thing growing up usually with rice and salty smoked turkey and rice and some sort of spicy side sauce. Anyway, that was the main thing here that made my mouth water. Though I'd gladly also take a few bites of that honey pita. Salty and sweet together is my jam.
I appreciate your efforts to always go off the beaten path. I hate shit that so blatantly caters to simple-minded western tourists. I hate simple-minded western tourists. They fuck so many things up.

I hope someone at the back of the restaurant ate the rest of that honey feta thing, because i couldn't finish it. I hate not finishing food because i was brought up with "waste not, want not" values, but this holiday more than once i ended up unable to finish what i ordered.
