1. What's your favorite fruit or vegetable to look at?That's a great question. I think i like to look at fruits that have interesting surfaces. Pineapples are pretty cool. But another cool one that's even better that i see a lot here in Taiwan is sugar apples, also known as ( Read more... )

As to #4, did you know it's common for the French to call someone "cabbage" as a term of endearment? Mon choux, mon petit choux, etc. I can't really think of any vegetable related term of endearment in English except for Sweet Pea, but that's really a flower, so. Vegetable seems like a term of not-endearment, like calling someone a couch potato or a turnip or just a vegetable.

I didn't think about French! I think i'd still be mildly miffed at someone called me a choux, but i suppose it's cultural. Fruits and flowers are definitely more common, both in nicknames and in legal names too, i guess because they sound sweet.

It never would've occurred to me, but I feel like "arugula" should be a nickname.

Pineapples are a bunch of berries that fused together to make one big fruit, which I always thought was a neat factoid.

That is interesting! I just read through the wikis of "multiple fruit" and "aggregate fruit" and the sugar apple is one too. I think i like the look of all those fruits - raspberries, blackberries, jackfruit - it's just sort of neat to see all those nodules fused together with something sweet and yummy inside.
