I miss gardening. My first full time job was at an organic farming research centre near Coventry, and i also worked at a London city farm and vineyards and lemon orchards in New Zealand. For a long time i thought my longterm career was going to be outside working with plants, but ultimately it didn't happen. Enjoy it while the weathers nice.
Thanks for sharing! I like the idea of working outdoors. I think farming sounds more rewarding than gardening. While gardens bring joy to the landowners, farming brings food to the masses. Although, i can imagine it's also a lot harder and more tedious work.
The work in New Zealand was definitely both hard and poorly payed, though oddly i now have a sense of nostalgia about it. It was nearly all carried out by backpackers who had a one year working visa and so didn't have the time to get into a proper career type job.
The city farm was one of my all time favorite jobs! It was more of a petting zoo for families to visit, with just a minimal amount of honey, eggs and vegetables sold.
Hahaha! I was thinking a similar thing when i chose that shot. Clearly i had a lot more beds to weed, all round the house, along the driveway, up the street, but i was trying to protect my landlord's privacy by not posting pictures of her house.
I will say, there is another beached sandworm next to the garage right now. I think it's a nozzle that must have fallen off a gutter somewhere.
I wear black jeans while doing so, if it makes it easier. Black jeans, bandana in my hair, and flip flops! I'm not sure if that makes me look tougher or more homely.
One thing the gardening has convinced me of is that if i ever somehow end up owning land, i will do my best to keep it au naturel. I walk down the highway and the bunchgrass and thistles look so much more attractive to me than the neatly manicured lawns and beds that need to be watered and weeded every day. On the other hand, doing that watering and weeding is meditative, and it puts a smile on my landlord's face, which makes me feel like i'm doing something good.

Houses are a lot of work.
