I don't have any experience with first love so I am sorry if I can't give you good advice. :-( He sounds like a great guy and I am sorry that it didn't work out. I do think that he is right about not waiting for him and missing out other opportunities. Perhaps one day, he'll want to be more than friends. It's great that you confessed to him so you won't have any regrets ~ that's very brave of you.

he sounds like a nice guy though. it hurts now, but you'll probably look back on this someday and smile... just one of those things you had to go through while growing up. :)
but i get how you feel though. my first love was a close friend too, back in high school. it can get bittersweet. but at least you could say that you told him about how you felt...you won't be wondering anymore about the what if's.
